Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between regular vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, and specialty sublimation?

Regular vinyl is basically a sticker. It comes as either permanent or removable vinyl. This can be applied to most materials, as long as the surface is smooth. This is commonly used on mugs, water bottles, a sticker to label things, or even a window decal.  Regular heat transfer vinyl is made of an adhesive material that is ironed onto the material. Because it is being ironed onto the material there will be a small bump between the design and the material used. It is quite durable and machine washable (cold cycle, washed inside out). However, the iron-on adhesive is more likely to peel when you are applying a small or thin design.  Specialty sublimation is a printed image that when heat is applied it turns into a gas, and is absorbed by the material. This requires a special type of paper, ink, and material. The material it is placed on must be sublimation graded or prepared. Currently sublimation is only available on white polyester shirts, however; I am in the process of updating my skills to apply to darker colours, and shirts that are not polyester. This is very durable.

Can you add a design to a item I already have?

Yes I can add a design to an item you already have, as long as the material is correct for the application. For example, a shirt may need to be cotton or polyester, or a mug needs to be sublimation friendly. These factors differ based on the items material, design wanted, and way of application. If you already have an item you would like customized, please reach out to me so we can discuss the different options.

Copyright Images vs. Original Designs

Copyright images are licensed by the owner, which prohibits outsiders from reusing or reproducing their design. Some examples may be logos (Walmart or McDonalds), or characters (Mickey Mouse or Harry Potter). This means that I cannot use their material on a shirt, however, I can use elements to create an original design. An original design is created by an individual that does not use any already created elements. I can take elements from a previous design (Mickey's ears) and add my own elements such as type.  This also applies to designs taken from places like Pinterest, Etsy, or Google. I am able to use those designs as inspiration but not as a reproduction. If you find a shirt design that you like, I can use it as inspiration to make an original design.

What affects prices?

Prices are affected by many factors. Simply they are affected by supplies, production cost, and labour costs. Some items use more or different supplies, or have more labour time. The price varies with the complexity of the design, size of the product, and quantity.  For example: If I am creating a sublimation shirt the supplies I need to do this are the shirt, sublimation paper, sublimation ink, butcher paper, and heat resistant tape. The production cost includes the use of a printer and heat press, as well as the programs used to design. Labour costs include the time spent designing, and time producing the finished product.

How do I reduce waste and be Eco-Friendly?

At Tal's Tee's I try to be as eco-friendly as I can. Any material that can be re-used or repurposed is used in many ways. Any material that cannot be re-used, is recycled in the proper way. Packaging is re-used when I can. If packaging from mugs or water bottles is returned I offer a discount on your next order. Bulk orders allow me to reduce waste, supplies, and energy costs.

Do you ship outside the Niagara Region?

Yes I do ship outside the Niagara Region. Currently only shipping within Ontario.

Are there discounts on bulk orders?

Discounts are possible on bulk orders. This depends on many factors such as quantity, current stock, materials needed, and labour for the order.
